Semi-Automatic Filling Machine Cost: Station, Labor & Scope

A semi-automatic filler price is only one part of a working station. Include the remaining operator tasks, product supply, container support and finishing equipment to understand the required budget.

Budget the complete working station

Cost lineInclude or identify
Filler configurationMetering, dose range, contact parts, nozzle, controls and guarding
Product supplyHopper, connection, compatible transfer arrangement and refill tasks
Container supportWorktable, fixtures, guides and space for empty/filled containers
UtilitiesRequired compressor or other services; do not assume the filler supplies them
FinishingCapping, sealing, labeling, coding and pack handling still required
Product changeExtra contact parts, cleaning tools, recovery containers and changeover labor
Delivery and supportPacking, transport, site preparation, training and initial spares

Use the operator cycle to estimate useful output

A dose may take only part of the working cycle. Loading, locating the container, triggering the fill, checking the result, moving the pack and replenishing supplies can be decisive. Measure the full sequence with the planned staffing arrangement.

If two operators work at separate stations, the stages may overlap, but the slower station and the handoff become the constraint. Record who does which task, rather than dividing all work by two and assuming perfect balancing.

Compare batch fit, not just the purchase amount

ScenarioWhat to compare
Short campaigns with many recipesProduct retained in contact parts, cleaning time and recipe setup
One product over longer runsOperator fatigue, refill method, sustained good output and the finishing bottleneck
Several bottle sizesFixtures, nozzle positions, change parts and first-pack verification
Possible later automationUsable controls/interfaces, conveyor compatibility and what would need replacement

Keep recurring costs separate from the initial budget

Labor, cleaning materials, product lost during setup, energy, maintenance and reject handling recur after installation. Record their measured quantity per shift or batch separately from the initial station price. Do not turn an assumed faster cycle into a promised labor saving without demonstrating the staffing change.

Use the quotation comparison calculator for the initial listed costs. The calculator deliberately does not estimate labor rates, maintenance frequency or return on investment.

Buyer questions

Is a lower-priced semi-automatic filler always the cheaper production option?

No. A narrow dosing range, slow cleanout, missing fixtures or additional finishing tasks can change the station cost and labor requirement.

Does servo drive remove the cost of compressed air?

Only if the complete configuration needs no pneumatic supply. Other actuators may still require air; check the full utility schedule.

When should I compare an automatic line?

When the measured station output, staffing, repeatability or package-handling requirements no longer fit the production plan. Compare complete operating arrangements, not only two filler prices.
