How to compare filling machine quotations without missing costs
A useful price comparison starts with the same job: the same liquid, container, closure, production target and supply boundary. Send one requirement sheet to every supplier, then mark each item as included, optional or excluded. A blank line is an unanswered question, not a zero cost.
Why can two filling machine quotes be so different?
One offer may cover a stand-alone filler while another includes bottle feeding, cap sorting, capping, coding and conveyors. The filling principle, product-contact materials and cleaning method also change the scope. Ask for an itemized equipment list, a layout and a written list of exclusions. Compare each supplier against that same list before negotiating the headline price.
Does a higher bottles-per-hour rating mean better value?
Only if that output applies to your liquid and pack. Ask which fill volume, bottle, cap, product temperature and test duration support the stated rate. Foaming, viscous liquids, cap feeding and downstream stops can reduce saleable output. For several bottle sizes, request the change parts, changeover procedure and expected cleaning time for each format. Confirm performance by agreed testing, not a catalogue maximum.
Which costs sit outside the machine price?
Check packing, freight, insurance, local handling, installation labour, travel, commissioning, training and initial spare parts. Obtain a site utility schedule for electricity, compressed air, process water and drainage. Assign responsibility for each connection and confirm the delivery term with its named place. Import charges depend on the destination and shipment; obtain a separate local estimate instead of assuming they are included.
What should be agreed before paying a deposit?
Record the product and packaging samples, target fill tolerance, measurement method, sustained output, closure checks and test duration. Define what will be checked at the supplier before shipment and again after installation. State who provides samples and utilities, how results are recorded and how failed tests are corrected and repeated. Keep payment milestones, warranty exclusions and service responsibilities in the signed supply agreement.
