Pulp and Particle Beverage Filling Guide
Beverages with pulp, aloe, seeds or other inclusions need a product path that preserves the intended distribution without blocking valves or damaging particles. Agitation, pipe velocity, valve passage and dosing consistency should be tested together.
Practical buyer guide | Updated October 2, 2026 | Final scope must be verified through drawings, samples and agreed acceptance tests
Editorial basis
Planning guidance, not a final machine specification

Confirm the final configuration against supplier drawings, actual product and packaging samples, destination requirements and the signed technical agreement.
Direct answer
What this decision means for a real filling project
Beverages with pulp, aloe, seeds or other inclusions need a product path that preserves the intended distribution without blocking valves or damaging particles. Agitation, pipe velocity, valve passage and dosing consistency should be tested together.
This guide is part of the Juice Tea and Functional Beverage Processing cluster. Read the hub when the project still needs a broader comparison.
How to test a pulp juice filling machine before acceptance
A short run with water does not establish particle-handling capability. Use a representative product lot with the intended particle shape, concentration, viscosity and filling temperature. Record the recipe revision and sampling method so that a later run can be compared on the same basis.
Check the entire product path, not just the nozzle opening
Ask for the minimum passages through the feed system, pump, valves, bends, dosing components and filling valve. Review soft or irregular particles as well as the largest dimension. A nominal particle-size claim may not describe bridging, settling, shear damage or concentration changes during a production run.
Compare a mixed-product path with separate particle and liquid dosing where appropriate. The choice depends on the formulation and required distribution; an extra dosing stage is not a guarantee. Ask the supplier to demonstrate mixing, hold conditions, transfer, stop-and-restart behavior and cleaning with the proposed configuration.
| Run stage | Collect and identify | Compare with the agreed target |
|---|---|---|
| Startup | Time, product lot, machine settings and samples linked to filling heads. | Fill amount, solids distribution, visible particle condition and startup rejects. |
| Steady running | Samples across heads and over time, with upstream tank conditions recorded. | Variation between heads and drift through the batch, not only an overall average. |
| Agreed stop and restart | Stop duration, product hold conditions, restart samples and discarded product. | Settling, blockage, particle damage, recovery time and accepted output. |
Worked example: a clearly defined solids check
Suppose an agreed laboratory method separates 20 g of drained particles from a 250 g filled sample. The measured retained-particle mass fraction is 20 / 250 x 100 = 8%. This is an illustrative calculation, not a machine specification or an acceptance target.
For a meaningful comparison, specify the sieve, draining time, temperature, sample preparation and weighing method. Apply the same method to all samples and record individual results by head and run stage. This result is not automatically the recipe’s fruit percentage, juice content, Brix or a regulatory label measurement. Dissolved material and fine particles may not be retained by the method.
Agree the evidence and the limits before the trial
- Write the permitted variation, sample schedule, run duration and treatment of startup and restart rejects into the acceptance plan.
- Keep raw sample results, identified samples where appropriate, settings, observations and an open-item list. A video should supplement this record, not replace it.
- Have cleaning and the food preservation process validated by appropriately qualified personnel. A successful particle-distribution trial does not demonstrate microbial safety or shelf life.
Use the juice filling machine selection page for process and package choices, the juice and tea line overview for equipment boundaries, and the FAT planning guide for the wider acceptance record.
Engineering inputs
Define the duty before comparing equipment
A useful proposal starts from agreed process and package information. These inputs keep suppliers from filling gaps with incompatible assumptions.
Send these details
- Particle dimensions and concentration
- Liquid viscosity and temperature
- Distribution tolerance
- Valve and pipe passage
- Cleaning requirements
Require these checks
- Run representative product
- Sample particle distribution by head
- Inspect damage and blockage
- Verify complete cleaning
Line integration
Connect the choice to upstream and downstream equipment
Project decision record
Turn the topic into four controlled project decisions
A useful guide should change the RFQ, proposal and acceptance plan. Use this record to keep the buyer, equipment supplier and site team on the same basis.
Freeze the application basis
Record particle dimensions and concentration together with liquid viscosity and temperature. Attach drawings, photos and representative samples when dimensions or product behavior affect the design.
Define rated and sustained duty
State distribution tolerance and valve and pipe passage. Separate nameplate rate from the sustained result expected with normal stops, changeovers and quality checks.
Control line interfaces
Mark every interface as supplier scope, buyer scope or third-party scope before the order is released.
Approve measurable evidence
Agree how to verify run representative product and sample particle distribution by head. The test plan should identify samples, duration, instruments, pass criteria and closure evidence.
Comparison sheet
Put every supplier on the same basis
| Decision area | What to state in the RFQ | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Particle specification | particle dimensions and concentration | run representative product |
| Liquid conditions | liquid viscosity and temperature | sample particle distribution by head |
| Distribution | distribution tolerance | inspect damage and blockage |
| Product path | valve and pipe passage | verify complete cleaning |
| Project scope | Utilities, interfaces, documents, spares, packing, shipping and support | Written inclusions, exclusions and acceptance evidence |
Verification route
Move from a claim to recorded evidence
- Approve the duty, drawings and test conditions before fabrication is treated as final.
- Use production-intent product and packaging wherever they materially affect performance.
- Record results by format, operating condition and quality criterion rather than relying on a short edited video.
- List open items, owners and closure evidence before packing and again after site commissioning.
Risk register
Resolve these risks before price becomes the deciding factor
Low quotations often hide different assumptions. A short written risk register makes technical and commercial differences visible before contract award.
| Risk | Why it matters here | Required control |
|---|---|---|
| Application mismatch | Stating particle size alone may miss concentration, shape, settling and shear behavior. | Confirm particle dimensions and concentration and test run representative product. |
| Package or format mismatch | Unapproved containers, closures, labels or tolerances can invalidate an otherwise suitable machine choice. | Freeze liquid viscosity and temperature and verify sample particle distribution by head with production-intent samples. |
| Line imbalance | A filler cannot deliver saleable output when feeding, closing, labeling, packing or utilities become the constraint. | State distribution tolerance and verify inspect damage and blockage across the connected line. |
| Weak acceptance evidence | Put verify complete cleaning into the FAT and SAT plan, including owners and close-out evidence. |
Buyer questions
Answers to common RFQ and acceptance questions
When is Pulp and Particle Beverage Filling Guide useful?
Juices, teas and functional drinks containing visible or suspended inclusions. Stating particle size alone may miss concentration, shape, settling and shear behavior.
What details should be supplied before requesting a quotation?
Prepare the following project-specific information: particle dimensions and concentration, liquid viscosity and temperature, distribution tolerance, valve and pipe passage, cleaning requirements. Drawings, photos and representative samples help the engineering review move from a budget assumption to a defined scope.
How should the proposed solution be checked before acceptance?
Use an agreed review or test plan to run representative product, sample particle distribution by head, inspect damage and blockage, verify complete cleaning. Record the conditions, measurements and open actions so the result can be compared with the approved specification.
What should the supplier proposal state for pulp juice filling machine?
The proposal should state the design basis, included equipment, utilities, interfaces, output conditions, change parts, documentation, spare parts, delivery boundary and acceptance method. For this topic, explicitly record particle dimensions and concentration and liquid viscosity and temperature.
What evidence should be retained after FAT and site handover?
Retain the approved specification, drawings, test conditions, measured results, alarm and safety checks, open-item register, manuals, backups, parts list and signed handover record. This guide particularly requires evidence for run representative product and sample particle distribution by head.
